Streamlight Flashlights

Streamlight FlashlightsStreamlight, Incorporated is a flashlight manufacturing company founded in 1973, and located in Eagleville, Pennsylvania. It is currently headed by company president Ray Sharrah, who recently replaced Brad Penney. Penney himself is an avid hunter who uses a Streamlight flashlight on his own hunting excursions. A staff of about 240 people is presently employed, and annual revenue estimates are between twenty to fifty million dollars. One of its earliest accomplishments was developing the first hand light for NASA capable of one million candlepower.

Streamlight flashlights are designed for several different applications. When choosing a light, one helpful tip is that LED lights are generally good for close viewing and last longer, while xenon is the choice for lighting objects farther away. In addition to traditional hand-held units, there are also mounted lights for weapons and vehicles, headlamps, pen lights with extension cables, and LED systems. The company is known as a rechargeable flashlight pioneer, and is responsible for many of the technological innovations used by countless fire departments and law enforcement agencies. Among them are lights which can withstand 500-degree temperatures and 200 feet of water.

Included in the Streamlight LED flashlight inventory is a selection of ultraviolet lights, which can be useful in forensics and detecting fake documents. Both ultraviolet and regular LEDs have a lifespan of 100,000 hours, and some are pen lights attached to cables up to two feet long. For police there is even an LED light on a special handcuff key, giving them light at their fingertips. The Streamlight LED flashlight now constitutes the majority of light choices.

The average Streamlight flashlight tops out between 50,000 and 80,000 candela where brightness is concerned, but as mentioned previously a unit providing one million candela is indeed available with the H.I.D. Litebox. At this intensity, the H.I.D. lamp will run 1.75 hours on its rechargeable battery. The Fire Vulcan series can reach 80,000 candela with its halogen bulbs combined with two LEDs, and is available as a vehicle-mounted system. Gun-mounted lights are made which are up to sixty percent lighter than others, to avoid upsetting the weapon’s balance. Newer to the scene is the pistol-gripped WayPoint, which uses the patented C4 LED to produce 115,000 candela for up to 8.5 hours. Those simply needing Streamlight flashlights for the house, however, will do just fine with the Stinger. Its xenon-filled bulb provides 11,000 candela, and a spare bulb is included in the tail cap.

Streamlight’s products are found in over sixty countries, and warranted for a lifetime of use. They provide plenty of information for those deciding on the best type of light, and their flashlights have a worldwide reputation for extreme durability and power. For over thirty-five years they have been trusted by police, soldiers , fire departments, rescue squads, and private citizens alike.
